The Adidas Womens 5K Challenge London race is just one of the runs taking place on the day, as women in Birmingham and Liverpool don their trainers and running gear for a run for chairty too. Having been held annually for eight years now, the womens 5k challenge run is now an established part of the running calendar and sees women from all over the country come together to compete against each other and themselves.

Whether you are running for the very first time, or want to beat your previous record, there are many great reasons to make sure you are lacing up your running shoes on Sunday 7th September 2008. Breakthrough Breast Cancer is the official charity of the Adidas Womens Challenge London run, and simply by taking part, you will be raising valuable funds and helping raise awareness for this hard working charity.

Many women know someone who has contracted breast cancer, and has either made it into remission or have sadly died from their illness. Breakthrough Breast Cancer encourages women to take part in this special female only run to honour the women that they have known and the bravery with which they have faced the disease. Last year the Adidas Womens 5k Challenge raised £68,000 for charity, and hopes are high that even more will be raised by the races in Liverpool, Birmingham and in London.

Although Breakthrough is the official charity for the womens 5k challenge, you can always run for your another charity of your choice. Whether you want to support the NSPCC, the Blue Cross Animal Charity or Refuge, there are plenty of other charities that would love to benefit from your efforts in the Adidas Womens 5K Challenge London run this September.
