Cultural festival
Full of the colour and excitement of all the different countries of Africa, the Trafalgar Square event features arts, music, dance and crafts as the famous London landmark is filled with stalls and a stage for live performances. The musical lineup includes everything from traditional songs to more contemporary tunes to make sure that fans of all ages and tastes are catered for.

Live music
Previous festivals have included live performances from the likes the all female band Les Amazones de Guinee, as well as the award winning Bassekou Kouyate and the Kaago Drummers, who captured the imaginations of the young crowd with their live performances at Africa Day. Trafalgar Square will no doubt be singing along to the acts on the 2011 programme when they perform as part of a vibrant and uplifting festival.

Free entertainment
And live music is not all you can hear on Africa Day. Trafalgar Square will also play host to fashion shows and exhibitions showcasing the best in African arts and crafts. Foodies can also browse the market stalls for authentic African food and drink to take home.

Festival history
Africa Day was launched in 2007 as a celebration of the wealth of culture that African immigrants have brought to London. In addition, a number of tourism companies will also be at the 2011 event to give information and advice about travel to the continent.

Sure to be a truly vibrant and exciting day for all who attend, Africa Day at Trafalgar Square takes place on Saturday 15th October 2011. Click back soon for further information on the timetable of events.
