Alan McGees Death Disco

Alan McGees Death Disco is a weekly night held every Wednesday at London’s iconic Notting Hill Arts Club. After several hugely successful years that have seen this club night gain in popularity, they’ve made a dramatic decision about the entry fee in response to the recession.

What Entry Fee?
In January 2009, Alan McGee took the surprising decision to scrap the standard £7 entry fee and make entry to Alan McGees Death Disco totally free all night – you can come and go as you please. He made a statement, declaring “'I've decided to take unpaid voluntary redundancy from the music industry. Just before the whole industry retires.”

Unsigned Acts
In moves to support unsigned acts, struggling in the current climate, Alan McGees Death Disco will be showcasing two unsigned bands every week. Alan McGee will also be popping back from time to time to show off his DJing skills.

Previous Big Names
Alan McGees Death Disco is one of the more high-profile club nights to suddenly start offering free entry. Past bands that have graced the stage include The Killers, Razorlight, Libertines, Hives and Glasvegas. They’ve also had some very high profile guest DJs such as Courtney Love, Mick Jones and Tim Burgess.

So who can you expect to find hitting the dancefloor at Alan McGees Death Disco? Notting Hill Arts Club regulars rub shoulders with trendy indie kids and old school punk veterans. You’re also sure to find savvy students and anyone hit by the credit crunch but still looking for a credible place to go clubbing.

Alan McGees Death Disco takes place from 7pm - 2am every Wednesday at Notting Hill Arts Club. Entry is free all night.
