Albert and Pearl 1st Birthday Event

To celebrate its first birthday, Albert and Pearl in Islington will be hosting a series of events throughout July, starting with the Albert and Pearl 1st Birthday Event. Free to get in all night, they’ve pulled out all the stops with a special guest DJ set from Huey of The Fun Lovin’ Criminals.

Huey Morgan DJs
Having Huey Morgan DJ is a big coup for the Albert and Pearl 1st Birthday Event. The New Yorker made a big splash in 1993 as the frontman of hip hop group the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, releasing such iconic hits as Scooby Snacks. Although their final album was released in 2002, Huey has continued to make a name for himself with guest appearances DJing at clubs across London and internationally. He’s also due to appear in the soon-to-be-released Clubbing To Death Brit flick with Nick Moran. This is the ideal opportunity to catch his set for the princely sum of nada.

What to Expect
The host for the evening is Jameela Jamil – one of the regular T4 presenters, looking to add a little glamour to the occasion. She’ll be helping Huey out on the night and overseeing all the activities that are lined up. These include parlour games like dominoes, dressing up in Pearl’s wardrobe and even vintage photography if you’d like a memento of your night. Prizes can be won throughout the evening but there’s complimentary punch, cocktails and food for everyone if you’re not lucky enough to win.

Albert and Pearl Refurbishment
Since Albert and Pearl opened it has gone from strength to strength and attracted a sea of regulars. Ideally positioned on Upper Street - the party strip of Islington - it’s recently had a bit of a makeover. Well, we all like to look nice on our birthday. They’ve hired a new chef who’s introduced a menu of traditional English fare. They’ve also opened up the downstairs area, which now acts as a dance floor, ideal for dancing the night away to the sounds of Huey Morgan at the Albert and Pearl 1st Birthday Event.

Dress to Impress
The Albert and Pearl 1st Birthday Event has a charmingly simple dress code – dress elegantly wasted like Pearl or rakishly dapper like Albert. Any excuse for fancy dress, right? This fits in perfectly with the chic 1920s surroundings of the bar.

Albert and Pearl 1st Birthday Event runs from 7pm-3am on Friday 3rd July. Entry is free all night.
