The most surprising thing (in a good way) about walking into the Andaz Hotel is that you instantly forget that you’re right next to the heaving throngs swarming around Liverpool Street Station – the sign of a great hotel, surely. Well-known for their innovative events, like the silent cinema screenings and last year’s indoor beach, this year the uber-chic hotel is playing host to the Andaz Summer Garden Party.
Just in time for Summer
Now that the warmest season of the year is here, the Andaz Summer Garden Party has arrived just at the right time. The hotel’s atrium space will be converted - with the help of distinguished florists Hayford and Rhodes - into a grown-ups playground complete with indoor grass, flowers, trees, benches and the promise of some extra quirky touches. Along with a series of intriguing special events, there will be regular music from cool DJs and footage of the biggest sporting and festival events of the summer broadcast on the atrium’s discrete plasma screens.
Bespoke events
So far, three events have been announced as part of the Andaz Summer Garden Party schedule. First up on Friday 26th June, they’re inviting some of the local movers and shakers to join them for Singledon. With more than a nod to the fact that Wimbledon’s going on across town, this event is a tennis themed singles’ event, where the lucky winners get to share a dinner at one of the 5 fabulous restaurants located within the hotel.
The Gold Party
The premise behind this one is simple: rock up with all your unwanted gold, silver and platinum jewellery and turn the dust-gathering trinkets into hard cash! There will cool music on the day along with Pimms (naturally), cocktails and nibbles.
Rumble in the Jumble
Perhaps the most hotly anticipated of all the Andaz Summer Garden Party events is the designer jumble sale, which takes place on Saturday 15th August. This one will be well attended by some of London’s biggest fashion-lovers and with a policy of only allowing participants to bring designer and fashion-forward items, you know there’s going to be some seriously fierce competition on the day. If the girls in attendance have their reluctant fellas in tow, no need to fret, the guys will be entertained by sports and festival footage on the atrium’s plasmas screens.
The Andaz Summer Garden Party is open from 8pm-11pm on Friday 26th June and then 12pm-11pm every day until Sunday 30th August. Entry is free unless otherwise stated.
