The Andy Warhol Portraits exhibition on show at Olyvia Fine Art gallery examines the world famous pop artist's portraiture collection. Including iconic pictures of famous faces alongside prints and his famous Screen Tests series, this is a London exhibition not to be missed.

Andy Warhol Portraits exhibition
Famous for his now classic images of the Campbells soup tins and his homage to Marilyn Monroe, the Andy Warhol Portraits exhibition now seeks to show the artist in a different light. Combining his groundbreaking take on traditional portraiture style and his silent film portraits, this exhibition is a fascinating look into the last 20 or so years of his work.

Glamorous subjects
Many famous faces feature on the canvases included in this major exhibition at Olyvia Fine Art as Andy Warhol sought to capture the portraits of a vast range of subjects. Alongside many obscure sitters, visitors to the Andy Warhol Portraits exhibition can see paintings of the likes of Ingrid Bergman, fellow artist Robert Mapplethorpe, Chinese leader Mao Zedong and even Queen Elizabeth II, all of which have been depicted in his instantly recognisable style.

Screen tests
One of the most fascinating aspects of the Andy Warhol Portraits exhibition is the inclusion of his Screen Tests series. Created at the Factory, the infamous art and nightclub which was atended by the artist and his followers on a regular basis, the Screen Tests consist of thirteen living portraits which show the sitter posing before the camera without moving. Seen as some of his most creative works from the 1960s, these filmic pictures have been strung together in a hypnotic sequence of flat, graphic images, that look almost like high quality studio photos.

Exhibition highlights
Having moved away from painting during the late 60s and rediscovered it with a passion during the 70s, Andy Warhol created a volume of work that continued to break with traditional portrait styles. Mixing up the paintings and the film portraits, the Andy Warhol Portraits exhibition features several significant works that no serious fan should miss. One of the definite hightlights of the show is a self portrait which is accompanied by a photograph taken in 1965 by New York photographer John McCabe.

The Andy Warhol Portraits exhibition takes place from Tuesday 16th March - Sunday 9th May 2010. Entrance is free.
