Antony Gormley at Hayward Gallery this summer sees the first major London showing of the British sculptors work.

Featuring a series of brand new works specially conceived for the Southbank Centre gallery, the exhibition from Antony Gormley at Hayward Gallery includes one of the largest ever urban public art commissions in the UK.

Event Horizon is the exhibition that covers the London skyline with sculptural casts of Antony Gormleys body on rooftops and public walkways. Dramatically transforming the architectural space of the London skies, Antony Gormleys bodies have already caused concerned Londoners to assume that they are jumpers, ready to throw themselves from a great height.

Creator of the Angel of the North, which stands on a hill outside Gateshead, and the more recent sculptures of his own body that graced the beach of Crosby, near Liverpool, Antony Gormley is renowned for his sculptural self referential works, and these casts are no different. All facing in the same direction, the bodies stand towards the Hayward Gallery as if worshipping an idol.

Alongside the cast iron figures shown around London, the exhibition by Antony Gormley at Hayward Gallery also includes a show entitled Blind Light, where visitors are invited to step into light boxes filled with fog.

For the last two weeks of the show, the Hayward Gallery is extending their opening hours to allow last chance visits to the exhibition. From the 6th August to the end of the show on the 19th, Blind Light will be open from 10am to 10pm every day.
