An Antony Gormley exhibition at St Pauls takes place throughout 2010 as the artist famous for his large scale and humanoid sculptures showcases an installation of his work Flare II.

Antony Gormley exhibition at St Pauls
Taking up residence in the Geometric Stairecase which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren, the Antony Gormley exhibition at St Pauls unites one of Britain's best known sculptors with one of the most iconic buidlings in the City of London. Part of an ongoing series of projects exploring the relationship between art and faith, this installation is set to be a interesting addition to the already popular venue.

Flare II
Entitled Flare II, the Antony Gormley exhibition at St Pauls is the sculptor's take on a geometric sculpture within a geometric space that attempts to marry the elegance of the staircase with the construct of the installation. Visitors to the famous cathedral will be thrilled to see this amazing sculpture as it occupies the dramatic staircase.

World famous sculpture
Antony Gormley is famous around the globe for his stunning sculpture work and most recently has filled the London skyline and a beach near Liverpool with humanoid figures. He also managed to fill the empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square with real humans for 100 days in his installation One and Other last year. Fans of his work, which also includes the enormous Angel of the North statue, will be keen to see the Antony Gormley exhibition at St Pauls, as much of his work these days take place in open air spaces.

Art in the cathedral
Several other artists have created installations or artworks for St Pauls in recent times, with Rebecca Horn, Yooko Ono and Martin Firrell all on the list. These installations, along with the Antony Gormley exhibition at St Pauls, are all part of an ongoing project which is set to explore the nature of contemporary art and faith at the cathedral. So keep your eyes peeled for yet more big name artists to appear in the iconic cathedral building.

Flare II, the installation by Antony Gormley exhibition at St Pauls Cathedral takes place from 8.35am - 10.30am, Wednesday 24th February - late 2010.

Tickets are £12.50 for adults, £11.50 for seniors, £9.50 for students and £4.50 for children.
