A history of Art LondonReturning for the tenth year in 2008 the event has firmly established itself a premier London art event, presenting a varied line up of pieces in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The venue of this year's event is again the Royal Hospital Chelsea, providing a suitably elegant backdrop for the show.
Eclectic artVariety is definitely par for the course with an eclectic range of pieces on display. Stands will feature a varied mix of paintings, sketches, photographs and sculptures, presenting a wide range of styles from leading artists.
London galleries, unitedOver 80 exhibitors will be on show at Art London, alongside 17 of Britain's foremost contemporary painters, combining forces in one of the biggest art events in the capital. Unlimited artistsWith literally hundreds of artists exhibiting at the show there are more than a few highlights to keep an eye open for. One special highlight for the 2008 show is a portrait of a Chelsea Pensioner from Jennifer McRae, a renowned portrait artist who spent 8 months in 2006 painting six portraits of Pensioners for raise money for the new Infirmary due to open in April 2009.
Art for charityLast year's Art London charity partner was Merlin medical relief, the charity organisation that works to aid civilians in places of disaster and conflict throughout the world. And in 2008 art fans can explore a world of art at Royal Hospital Chelsea whilst supporting a new worthy cause.
Art London 2008 takes place at Royal Hospital Chelsea, South Grounds, from Thursday 2nd October – Monday 6th October. Nearest tube: Sloane Square. The fair opens daily at 11am.
