Australian wine tastingFor an evening of guided trails through a mouth watering selection of wines, head to the Australia Day celebrations at Vinopolis. Celebrating one of Australia's most popular and well regarded exports, the Taste Australia Day experience gives you the opportunity to sample a range of wines for yourself, as well try some traditional and authentic Australian treats such as Victoria Bitter, Tim Tam biscuits with rum and a Jumpucks pie. An extremely cultured and civilised way to mark Australia Day on Tuesday 26th January, tickets for this event cost £30.00 and can be booked by calling 0207 940 300.
WalkaboutPopular Australian themed bar chain Walkabout is going all out to celebrate Australia Day at its venues across London. There are DJs and live music at the Shepherds Bush Walkabout from 12pm onwards, and bars in Islington and Covent Garden are also welcoming drinkers throughout the day.
Australia Day at Down Under LiveLondoners can put a little bit of authenticity to their Australia Day celebrations at Down Under Live, where all things related to both Australia and New Zealand are being celebrated. The exhibition and lifestyle show runs from Saturday 30th January - Sunday 31st January 2010 at the Business Design Centre in Islington.
Australia Day at Belushi'sPopular bar and restaurant chain Belushi's is hosting one of the best Australia Day London events with competitions, live DJ sets, drinks promotions and more from 6pm on Tuesday 26th January. There'll also be limited edition shots to give homesick Aussies a taste of home.
Australia Day Party at Peoples Republic2010 sees a great Australia Day London event in the form of the Australia Day party at Peoples Republic, a popular late night DJ bar in Clapham. Warm up ahead of the big day itself from 12pm until late on Sunday 24th January to party to the sounds of Australian tunes, or start the party from 10am on the 26th January for Aussie beers, food and more DJ tunes.
Australia Day at Waxy O'ConnorsLondon's biggest Irish pub, Waxy O'Connors is pulling out all the stops for Australia Day. London is set for a big Aussie style party as the pub welcomes drinkers with favourite tipples from down under such as Victoria Bitter, Fosters lager and Bundaburg rum. Free entry with open doors, Australian food and plenty of exciting giveaways makes this a night not to be missed. The Australia Day party at Waxy O' Connors takes place from on Sunday 24th January and Tuesday 26th January, with live music starting from 4pm.
Australian filmsIf you fancy catching some Antipodean movies this Australia Day, then why not have an outing to Jetlag to see flicks such as Mad Max, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Muriel's Wedding and Strictly Ballroom on the big screen. The venue is also serving surf 'n' turf, James Boag beers and special cocktails on Australia Day to get you feeling all patriotic. The films start from 1pm on Tuesday 26th January, and are free to watch.
