When the original edition was launched in 2009, tickets for Avatar at IMAX went on sale ahead of the film release with 35,000 sold in just four days. The box office opened 24 hours a day simply to cope with the high demand, and following the film's box office success the IMAX cinema scheduled extra screenings so that fans could watch the movie for themselves. If you were one of the few who missed out on seeing the film the first time around or simply want to revisit the fantastical world of Pandora for a second time, then the special edition of Avatar is the film for you.

The special edition of Avatar was released exclusively in 3D over the summer of 2010, with an extra 8 minutes of footage. With new creatures and new action scenes to enjoy, the new edition is a must for die hard Avatar fans, and is once again making a welcome return to the BFI IMAX.
