For the first time this year, an urban art auction takes place at Bonhams New Bond Street as pieces by many of the coolest and most cutting edge artists go under the hammer. Garnering plenty of press attention for his urban and street art, you can expect to see many eager art fans bidding high prices in this Banksy auction.

Banksy under the hammer
Renowned for his spray paint art and urban subversion of celebrity and politics, Banksy is a by word in the art world for cutting edge contemporary design and has many fans outside of his playground of London. With Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt buying some of the anonymous artist's work in early 2007, Banksy has become the acceptable face of graffiti and street art.

Street art
With the Banksy auction due to receive plenty of attention from the press, you can be sure that the cunning street artist will still be up to his old tricks on the urban canvas of London. With council workers recently being given the task of restoring some of his work that decorates the underpasses and brick walls of the city, it is plain to see that his art is no longer as controversial as it once was. With new pieces appearing around London almost everyday, there are bound to be many of his fans keen to see if they can get a piece from the Banksy auction to appreciate at home, rather than on the way to work.

Rising stars
The Bristol born artist is not the only famous name appearing alongside the Banksy auction at Bonhams. There are plenty of other urban and street artists with pieces of work due to sell at New Bond Street too. Adam Neate, Mau Mau, Blek le Rat, Word to Mother, D*Face, Cept, Faile, Beejoir, Cyclops, Guy Denning, Pure Evil, Paul Insect, WK Interact and Nick Walker will also have art up for sale. Representing work that is almost exclusively seen in urban art and street culture, the works going under the hammer in this auction are destined to see very high bids.

Graffiti on canvas
Two major works by Banksy will be the main talking points in the auction at Bonhams. Nola Pink, a stencil spray paint on canvas piece, is a picture of a girl being rained on from beneath her umbrella, and was created in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Also attracting a high amount of interest is the series of six Kate Moss prints in the style of Warhol's Marilyn Monroe portraits. As most of the 20 Banksy Kate Moss prints were sold separately, this group of six prints are even more collectable, and are expected to be sold for around £100,000 - £150,000. Having committed his spray paint to canvas rather than the usual ephemeral brick wall, buyers in the Banksy auction can take home some of this iconic art and expect to secure a tidy profit on their investment, as his popularity grows and grows.

Famous buyers
A chance for the public to own a piece of London's most famous street art, the Banksy auction gives you the opportunity to buy a bit of history. Join the likes of Jude Law, Keanu Reeves and Denis Hopper, and bag yourself a Banksy from the Bonhams auction.
