The Raymond Gubbay Barbican Christmas Festival is back once again for the festive period 2011, meaning there are plenty of fantastic live acts for you to catch over the holidays. Running throughout the festive period and taking you into the cold and wintery days of January to start the New Year, there is something for everyone to enjoy on the programme.
Full on festive music
With the likes of the London Concert Orchestra, folk singer Kate Rusby and many special gala nights, the Barbican Christmas Festival is certain to be a hit with all music fans. Whether you want Mozart by candlelight, an evening enjoying the Gilbert and Sullivan classic The Pirates of Penzance, or big band glamour courtesy of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, you're in for a very festive treat.
Classical hits for Christmas
Classical music makes a big return for the Barbican Christmas Festival for 2011 with the performance of Handel's Messiah, the London Concert Orchestra at the Christmas Galore concert, a performance of Beethoven's Ninth and a Last Night of the Christmas Proms gala featuring proms favourites such as Rule Brittania! and Land of Hope and Glory. The Mozart Festival Orchestra's performance of Mozart by candlelight is sure to be one of the most atmospheric concerts to take place during the festival, as the orchestra will be performing in full 18th century period costume.
