Look up to see the Battle of Britain fly-past London event on the day of the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Spitfires and Hurricanes
With both Spitfires and Hurricanes expected to feature in the Battle of Britain fly-past, London onlookers can celebrate the royal wedding and commemorate the Battle of Britain by seeing the iconic fighter aircraft take to the skies above the capital once more. The flyover takes place above Buckingham Palace, around the same time that the bride and groom join the Queen on the balcony.

Memorial event
The flyover pays tribute to the aircrew, radar operators, ground crew and commanders who fought to protect the UK from Luftwaffe enemy bombers over the summer and autumn of 1940. Now seen as a turning point of the Second World War, the Battle of Britain saw over 2,300 British, Commonwealth and Allied aircrew take to the skies in planes such as Hurricanes and Spitfires, often at great personal cost.

Day of celebrations
While paying tribute to the sacrifices of past generations at the Battle of Britain fly-past, London spectators can also join in with the day of jubilant celebrations for the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The memorial flight is part of the Royal Air Force fly-past over Buckingham Palace as the nation unites to mark the marriage of the second in line to the throne.

Royal wedding events
In addition to the free Battle of Britain fly-past London event, there are even more special events taking place across the city to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. From the horse drawn carriage procession featuring the newlyweds to street parties, afternoon teas and more across London, there are plenty of ways to spend the long bank holiday weekend.
