Whats On in London
Lace up your trainers and leave your iPods at home, because the Beat the Baton London run is heading to Battersea Park. Runners will compete in a 5k or 10k charity run whilst racing along to live music courtesy of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. There’s nothing more triumphant than crashing cymbals and booming instruments, so head to Battersea Park for a brand new take on running for charity.

Beat the orchestra
Can you cross the finish line before the orchestra finishes its last note? At the Beat the Baton race your aim is to complete the run before the orchestra winds up their last song. Race along to the sounds of popular classical music sure to get your heart racing. From traditional classics like Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and Rossini’s William Tell Overture to the theme from ET, you’ll be sure to fly through the finish line.

Get ready to race
The Beat the Baton London run is a race for charity, so people of all ages and abilities can take part. Runners can sign up as individuals or teams of four, and there are two separate races to try out.

Catch the spectacle
The baton you’ll have to beat will be held by famous conductor Anthony Inglis, who’s known for his exciting and lavish performances. He’s most famous for conducting the Classical Spectacular, which featured lasers, lights and amplification. Don’t be surprised if there are a few tricks up his sleeve when the runners begin to cross the finish line.

Race for charity
Take part in the Beat the Baton London run for a chance to help out a top charity Sue Ryder Care. Each step you take will mean more opportunities for the charity to raise money for people living with conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease and cancer.

The Beat the Baton London run takes place on 25th August 2008 in Battersea Park. Registration to enter costs £12.50 for the 5k run, and £17.50 for the 10k race, and is free for spectators. For more information and to register for the race, click on the link below.
