The Belle Epoque club night invites you to step back in time and over the channel to Paris for an evening of bohemian fun and games. Recreating the hedonistic days of the end of the 19th century, this is one club night that will indulge your more artistic side.
Belle Epoque
A club night inspired by the 19th century haunts favoured by Toulouse Lautrec and his Impressionist pals, Belle Epoque takes you on an absinthe fuelled journey full of circus performers, distorted mirrors and silent films. Expect tricks of the eye, bizarre performances and plenty of can-can ruffles.
Tinkerbell?
Absinthe or the Green Fairy as it is often called plays a major part in the evening's entertainment. Giving guests the chance to learn to appreciate the spirit in its correct form, absintheurs will be on hand at the Belle Epoque club night to introduce you to the delights of the fairy. Indulge in a little light sugar cube and absinthe indulgence, and watch the freak show of aerial dancers and trapeze artists tumble above you.
Find your inner Degas
Fin de siecle Paris was a wild and creative time, where artists, writers and philophers mixed with showgirls and strippers for drinking and dancing. Here at the Belle Epoque club night, clubbers will be invited to show off their artistic side with the chance to create art throughout the evening, by reciting poetry, indulging in absinthe induced visions or simply philosophising with your fellow artists. The dress code demands that you dress the part too, with men requested to don their artists smocks and paint splattered clothes or go all out with moustaches, top hats and tails. Ladies are invited to put on tailfeathers and squeeze themselves into corsets.
The next event
And to top it all off, the evening wouldn't be complete without a soundtrack to match the excesses and jubilant partying of the Belle Epoque crowd. Expect an eclectic mix of sounds, inspired by the streets of Montmartre and the Parisian red light district. The next party takes place at Village Underground in Shoreditch and invites you to enter a velvet draped world, with live music, acrobatic performances and fancy dress costumes to help you delve deep into the dark, dreamy and raunchy end of the century style night.
The Belle Epoque club night takes place from 8pm - 2am (acrobats from 9pm onwards) on Saturday 12th May 2012 at Village Underground.
