The Bermondsey 500 rally revs up its engines as the new charity venture begins its three day rally from glamorous Bermondsey to the deepest, darkest depths of Monaco. Organised by Southwark bar owners Steve Novak and Phil Hinchcliffe, the Bermondsey 500 promises a truck load of fun, whilst raising money for a very worthy cause.

The Bermondsey 500 rally will see a host of cars set off from south London, taking in the sights of some of Europe’s most famous cities as they head for the winning post in Monte Carlo. This is no Gumball Rally though, the Ferraris and Astons are making way for some, how shall we put it… less fetching motors.

The cars taking part in the Bermondsey 500 must cost less than £500 so expect to see some proper old bangers spluttering off on their way to the finish line. Those inside won’t look too much better either, with strict instructions that the whole rally must be raced in fancy dress.

The Bermondsey 500 rally will be run in aid of The Burned Children’s Club, a charity that helps young burns sufferers and their families. There are two ways you can help out this great cause – either turn up to the launch party on the 25th June and donate, or enter the Bermondsey 500 yourself, with entry being just £99.

The Bermondsey 500 will kick off from Bermondsey on Wednesday 25th June, waved off by a huge launch party full of fun and frolics. The drivers will make their way to Calais, head through France and then reach the chequered flag at Monte Carlo Bay. If the old bangers make it, that is.

The Bermondsey 500 launch party takes place at the Kings Arms on the evening of Wednesday 25th June 2008, with the race starting from the same place on the morning of the 26th, running until 29th June. For more information, please follow the link below and call the Kings Arms.
