The BFI 75th birthday weekender sees a whole host of exciting events taking place at the BFI Southbank and the BFI IMAX to celebrate their landmark anniversary. From kids events, workshops, debates, film screenings to all night cinema sessions and live music events, there is plenty to do and enjoy over the BFI 75th birthday weekender.

Spend the whole night partying before you crash in the cinema for an all night session of films, take part in the talkoke sessions and enjoy live AV action with the AV Social, grab yourself some free screenings accompanied by a live score, or head to one of the numerous film talks and workshops for some insight into the world of cinema, the BFI 75th birthday weekender has it all.

Kicking things off in a real party mood, the BFI 75th birthday weekender hosts a fantastic array of audiovisual performances from the AV Social and Pioneer Pro DJ on Friday 26th September. Mixing club culture, gaming and cinematic screenings, the AV crews will be taking the night into the future with multi screen, music and interactive sessions for all to enjoy.

Saturday 27th September is a great day for heading back down to the cinema too, as film workshops, free screenings of restored classics and famous faces sharing their favourite films are all in store. Family film teams will also have the chance to make a three minute short about the South Bank, and in the evening the BFI 75th birthday weekender really goes with a bang. The Big Chill Festival will be in residence to present live performances exploring the themes of time and memory, where you can hear from D-Fuse, Exceeda and Future Loop Foundation. Once the Saturday night party is over, you can relax in the cinema for the time travel all nighter.

The final day of the birthday weekender sees more free screenings and talks about the future of the cinema from some more familiar faces. Kids and family are not left out of the mix, as families and children will have a whale of a time at the Film Funday. A slapstick workshop with a special kids menu, and some magical films shown in 3D at the BFI IMAX complete the day for children. For those that want to show off their knowledge of the film world, the BFI 75th birthday weekender quiz is the way forward, hosted at the Riverfront Cafe.

Wrapping things up for the weekender session, there is of course the chance to simply go to the cinema and catch some of the great screenings with retrospectives of Clint Eastwood, Juliette Binoche and Charlie Chaplin.
