Big Dance at The Scoop

See even more of the Big Dance at The Scoop during July as the More London location takes part in this city wide celebration of all things dance. From youth dance and rock to salsa and Latin styles, there is something for everyone who loves to get on that dancefloor and get moving.

Big Dance is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the huge variety of different dance styles there are around. Even if you think you know it all, Big Dance at The Scoop will bring different styles and themes of dance to the fore, and make you want to get up and shake your thing to the music. Get down to The Scoop from 5th to 10th July 2008 and get involved.

The schedule for Big Dance at The Scoop looks like this:

10am - 6pm Saturday 5th July - London Youth Dance Day
Open air dance performances will be taking place at The Scoop throughout the entire day and more than 40 dance companies will be showcasing their styles to the audience. A programme of back to back dance events kick starts the beginning of the Big Dance residence at The Scoop with professional dance performances and surprise inpromptu shows interspersed with the youth dances.

8:30am - 6pm Sunday 6th July - Big Dance Drop
Spend all day perfecting your spins or touching up your moves, as the Big Dance Drop sees some of the best names in street dance take workshops and lead performances. Dancers from Boy Blue, Zoonation, and Impact will all be on hand to show you how to create the coolest moves around, before you catch amazing performances from the likes of Impact and Ruthless.

12pm - 5pm Monday 7th July - A-Z of Dance
A non stop day of dance workshops and brilliant performances hits The Scoop on Monday 7th July, giving all ages and abilities the chance to get involved and learn some new and energetic steps.

11am - 4pm Tuesday 8th July - Big Dance Rock Challenge
See if you can become part of the record breaking world's biggest dance class with the Big Dance Rock Challenge. More workshops and performances take place throughout the day as the vibrant and enegertic dance company get everyone involved.

12:30pm - 7:30pm Wednesday 9th July - Salsa Day
Escape the monotony of the office and learn how to salsa like the pros with the special salsa day at The Scoop. A warm up demonstration and a dance workshop will have you shimmying and shaking all afternoon before the evening's excitement. Later on Ola Latina will present a showcase of work from the current salsa dance world champions, and still leave time for a free for all dance session to the strains of Conjunto Sabroso, one of the best Latin bands on the London salsa scene.

12:30pm - 7:30pm Thursday 10th July - Calypso Music and Dance Day
To finish off the events from Big Dance at The Scoop you can swing and sway to the music of the Caribbean and the USA, as the calypso and mento dances come into play. After the lunchtime workshop, you can experience a fantastic evening of plantation blues and Caribbean folk music, as you try out your best moves on the dance floor.
