Trafalgar Square
The grand finale to the Big Dance festival that is taking place across the city, the Big World Dance London event features thousands of people in a mass dance performance. The travelling dance will be snaking its way from the Southbank Centre to Trafalgar Square, and best of all it's free to take part in and watch.
World wide dances
While the actual dance routine has been choreographed by artistic director of Protein Dance Luca Silvestrini, the Big World Dance London event is in fact a huge collaborative venture, with signature dance moves contributed by dance fans across the city. Dance styles from five continents are incorporated into the performance, so expect to see moves inspired by everything from English country dancing to flamenco, and traditional geisha moves to African warrior dances.
Southbank Centre project
Over 10,000 people are expected to take part in the open air performance along the South Bank, with the dance ending in a spectacular event at Trafalgar Square. The Big World Dance London event is the realisation of the Southbank Centre's Dance Atlas project, which has collected dance styles and signature moves from around the world.
All welcome
All ages and abilities are welcome to take part in World Big Dance, so expect to see a huge range of generations, ethnicities, shapes and sizes taking part in the mass participation event.
