Pick up Birdsong tickets
Theatre fans who decide to get their hands on Birdsong tickets will be treated to a fascinating new play, specially conceived for the theatre by Rachel Wagstaff. Released in 1993, Birdsong soon became a hugely popular and critically acclaimed novel for Sebastian Faulks, so expect the production at the Comedy Theatre to be every bit as talked-about as fans of the novel take advantage of what promises to be one of the highlights on the theatre calendar.

Moving tale and play
Rachel Wagstaff’s version of Birdsong keeps close to Sebastian Faulk’s classic novel, telling the tale of Stephen Wraysford as he goes from a passionate affair to the horrors of World War One, with only the hope for the future and his love for Isabelle keeping him going as his men die beside him at The Somme. The powerful, moving and deeply affecting Birdsong tale sold over three million copies worldwide and the production at the Comedy Theatre looks set to continue the legacy of one of the great war stories of recent times.

Trevor Nunn
Taking the directorial reigns for Birdsong the play is Trevor Nunn, the celebrated director who made his name as the longest serving Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Nunn has been awarded countless awards for productions such as Nicholas Nickleby, Les Miserables, The Cherry Orchard, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, The Woman in White and A Little Night Music, as well as most of the Shakespeare canon. This theatre production of Birdsong will no doubt showcase just why he is widely heralded as one of theatre’s finest talents, with tickets looking to sell out quickly.

Rachel Wagstaff
To adapt Birdsong for the stage certainly needs a talented writer, and luckily Rachel Wagstaff is exactly that, having already worked on a very well received adaptation of another Sebastian Faulks novel, The Girl at the Lion D’or for Radio 4. She boasts impressive pedigree for productions such as Night Sky, The Soldier and Veronika Decides To Die, so expect Birdsong to be a very fine adaptation indeed.

Ben Barnes in Birdsong
This London production of Birdsong will also see the celebrated actor Ben Barnes taking to the Comedy Theatre stage to play Stephen Wraysford. Having starred as Prince Caspian in the Narnia films, as well as Stardust, Easy Virtue and stage roles in The History Boys, Loving Orphelia and many more, his role in Birdsong looks set to be a huge draw for fans of his work. And just one more reason to see the Birdsong play in London.

And more top stage talent
Joining Ben Barnes on the Comedy Theatre stage - and making Birdsong tickets even better value - are Nicholas Farrell (Chariots of Fire, Stuff Happens), Iain Mitchell (La Cage Aux Folles, Edmond), Genevieve O’Reilly (Spooks, The Weir), Lee Ross (Eastenders, The Catherine Tate Show) and Zoe Waites (Mrs Klein, The Other Boleyn Girl). So if you would like to see a fascinating tale played out by a very strong cast, pick up tickets and prepare for Birdsong at the Comedy Theatre.
