Black Watch tells the story of the Black Watch regiment of the British Army as it serves in Iraq in 2004. Telling the tale from recruitment in Scotland, through to the horrors of war in Iraq and then the journey home, Black Watch bring the war on terror vividly to life, offering audiences a glimpse of what it is like to be a soldier in a modern war, as well as what it means to be a member of this legendary Scottish regiment.

Real stories
Much of the power of Black Watch comes from the fact that it is based on real accounts from Black Watch members. Black Watch writer, Gregory Burke, interviewed former soldiers from the regiment and used the accounts as a base for the engrossing story, adding a huge amount of pathos to the play.
