Where
The Barbican and venues across East London
Taking place at The Barbican and around the East End, the Blaze Festival London event showcases the best in world music for the summer of 2011.
Summer music
With indoor events at venues such as The Barbican and Hackney Empire as well as outdoor events across East London, the Blaze Festival London event should have something for all music lovers over the summer. Highlights include Metropole Orkest vs. Basement Jaxx, Esperanza Spalding, and more.
Live concerts
Jazz fans can enjoy an evening of sultry, swinging beats at Hackney Empire with Grammy award winner Esperanza Spalding following her sold out Barbican show in April, while if you looking for something faster, get your tickets for the Shangaan Electro night during the Blaze Festival London event for some South African Urban Eletro. Basement Jaxx will be making an unusla alliance with Metropole Orkest with a cutting edge approach to orchestral interpretation.
Blaze
This year marks the third Blaze Festival London, celebrating music with origins from around the globe, all based in Europe's largest cultural quarter of East London, with over 12,000 artists taking residence.
Alfresco gigs
As well as the series of free events and ticketed concerts taking place at The Barbican, Hackney Empire and other venues, fans of live music can also make the most of the summery weather at a series of outdoor gigs. Join New Orleans outfit the Soul Rebels Brass Band at Canada Square Park for a sizzling set packed full of jazz, hip hop, reggae and Mardis Gras fusions.
