Mark the 70th anniversary of the concentrated bombing attacks on the capital during the Second World War with the Blitz London Underground tours. The disused Aldwich Tube station will be opened up to the public for the tours, in one of the many special events designed to commemorate both the Blitz and the Battle of Britain over the summer and autumn of 2010.

Tube tours
Aldwych tube station was used as an air raid shelter during the aerial bombing campaigns of the Second World War, so it's fitting that this now disused station is the site for the Blitz London Underground tours. The tours give you the chance to explore first hand the location where thousands of Londoners took shelter as Luftwaffe bombs exploded above them from September 1940 to May 1941.

Period costume
Adding to the atmosphere of the Blitz London Underground tours will be a number of actors in 1940s period costume, including an ARP Warden, and the station will also be decorated in wartime style. A pre-war RT8 bus will be parked outside the station at street level while the tours take place.

Commemorative events
As well as the Blitz London Underground tours, there are a number of other events taking place across the city to mark the 70th anniversary of both the Blitz and the Battle of Britain. Click on the links below for more information on exhibitions, concerts and more.
