Open air performancesThis season you’ll be able to catch three fabulous opera and ballet performances live in London as they are screened from the Royal Opera House. Trafalgar Square and Canada Square Canary Wharf are the London locations for the events this year, so make sure to pencil down the dates in your diary and don't miss out!
Royal Opera House showsThe Romeo and Juliet ballet takes place on 1st June 2008 at 3pm in Trafalgar Square and Canada Square Canary Wharf, and Verdi's Don Carlo on 3rd July 2008 at 6pm in Trafalgar Square and Canada Square too. Finally there’s the chance to see the opera the Marriage of Figaro by Mozart on 16th July 2008 which will also be screened live to both Trafalgar Square and Canada Square Canary Wharf and is the last of the BP opera and ballet screenings to take place.
Free summer screensA wonderful chance to see these amazing performances for free, the BP Summer Screens are a regular event on the London calendar and much loved by opera and ballet fans alike. With tickets for the Royal Opera House sometimes stretching into the hundreds, the BP opera and ballet screenings are a fabulous chance to see world class dancers and singers for the price of the tube fare.
Get there earlyBP Opera and Ballet is always immensely popular so make sure you arrive early to stake out your vantage point. Due to council restrictions, portable furniture is not allowed in either location so unfortunately you'll have to leave the deckchairs and patio furniture at home!
40 second film competitionDo you think that you could remake Romeo and Juliet on film in only 40 seconds? BP Summer Screens are inviting budding filmmakers to capture the essence of the classic Shakespearian in only 40 seconds.
