Head to a romantic screening of Brief Encounter at The Troxy, when the multi-purpose venue in transformed into a retro style Picture Palace for five nights, complete with live music and one-off performances.

Valentine's Day screening
With five night of events celebrating Valentine's Day in dazzling vintage style, Brief Encounter at The Troxy aims to turn a simple film screening into a memorable experience. The event rewinds the clock and returns The Troxy to its former glory with a pop up Picture Palace, including an organist, usherettes and live performances.

Other Cinema
The Valentine's screenings of Brief Encounter at The Troxy form the official launch of the UK wing of The Other Cinema, an international network of pop up cinemas that aim to celebrate the community feeling and shared experiences that cinema can bring. The Other Cinema is set to screen one beautiful and seminal film in a different setting each month, and to start off with you can share your passion for film on Valentine's Day by revisiting Brief Encounter, the timeless British classic.

Brief Encounter
Directed by David Lean and with a screenplay by Noel Coward, Brief Encounter touches on the themes of forbidden love, unrequited longing and sacrifice. Celia Johnson received an Oscar nomination for her role as suburban housewife Laura Jesson, who finds herself drawn to the idealistic doctor she meets at a railway station cafe.
