Are you Britains Best Barbecuer? Head to Brixton on Saturday 2nd August to see all the barbecuing action and see if your gourmet grilling is up to the high standards exacted by the National Barbecue Association. On the look out for the 6th best barbecuer in Britain, they and Tesco have thrown down the barbecuing gauntlet to see what kind of talent is out there.

With more emphasis on gastro style grub than burnt bangers these days, barbecuing has become somewhat of an art form. No longer are we expected to be satisfied with charcoal coloured chicken and limp lettuce, Britains Best Barbecuer will be paving the way for grilled sword fish, sizzling organic sausages and exotic vegetable kebabs.

Think you have what it takes to make the title of Britains Best Barbecuer? You're not the only one keen on heating up the grill and piling on the food. Last year over 95 million barbecues took place in Britain, meaning there will be some stiff competition for the cookery title. But before you get ready to grill, you need to test your barbecuing knowledge and if you are successful you will then be invited down to Brixton on Saturday 2nd August to prove your skills on the barbie and serve up some delicious summer food.

The regional heats for the barbecue comeptition take place throughout July before the grand final which also takes place at Tesco Brixton on Thursday 7th August where the winner will walk away with the prestige of knowing that they are the kong or queen of the grill, and also a holiday for two to America.

Everyone who makes it through to the Britains Best Barbecuer competition will be on the receiving end of a fabulous Gastro Barbie Box which contains all sorts of goodies that will make your barbecue go with a bang. Whereas winners from the regional heats will be given a seriously efficient gas barbecue to get cooking with. The barbecue box contains such delights as Carling C2 lager, Lea and Perrins sauce, McCain wedges, quality standard beef and lamb, rose wine, Tropicana Spirit and Walkers Sensations crisps which will certainly come in handy when you are practising your flame grilling technique.

With over 5,000 people entering the competition to be Britains Best Barbecuer in 2007, you can be sure there will be even more eager barbecuers ready to take up the challenge this year. Having evolved into a truly gastronomic event, you had better get the barbie out and fired up and start cooking those steaks and burgers to perfection!
