British Comic Art Exhibition

A major British comic art exhibition takes place at Tate Britain over summer 2010 as the ground breaking comic artists of the UK gather to present their work. With a diverse range of art forms on show, this is an exhibition not to be missed by any lovers of graphic or comic art.

Drawing together British comic art in an exhibition that features work from the 1600s to the present day, the show at Tate Britain highlights some of the very best cartoon and comedy writers the UK has ever known. Bringing together paintings, drawings, sculpture, film and photography, the works on show in the British Comic Art exhibition invite you to have a chuckle as you look back at the comic traditions of saucy seaside postcards, bawdy illustrations and poltical satire. Featuring the likes of William Hogarth, Aubrey Beardsley, Edward Lear, Gerald Scarfe and Sarah Lucas, the exhibition charts the history of comic art over the last 400 odd years.

Only joking
