British Council exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery
Titled Passports: Great Early Buys from the British Council Collection, the British Council exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery starts when the respected arts venue reopens on Sunday 5th April after a £13.5 million expansion and regeneration. Focusing on the early stages of the careers of many high profile artists such as Lucian Freud, Paul Nash and Bridget riley, the works in the Passports exhibition has been selected by artist Michael Craig-Martin and is free to attend.

Show highlights
Highlights of the British Council exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery include Girl with Roses, 1947-48, by Lucian Freud, as well as early carvings by Henry Moore, and Cataract 3 by Bridget Riley, one of the artist's first major colour paintings. The exhibition coincides with the start of the British Council's celebrations for its 75th anniversary, and presents some of the best pieces from the organisation's collection of over 8000 works.
