The British Design exhibition London event taking place at the V&A Museum during 2012 aims to highlight the best in British creative design talent from 1948 to 2012. Spanning the gap between the Austerity Olympics and the London 2012 games, the exhibition looks at the internationally acclaimed design from the Morris Mini Minor to the newly commissioned Zaha Hadid's LOndon Aquatic Centre.

British Design Exhibition London
Telling the story of British design in all it guises, the V&A exhibition includes fashion, fine art, graphic design, furniture, photography, ceramics and architecture, with work on show by some of the most famous designers and artists of the last 50 years. Investigating the manufacturing industry as well as the creative power behind the ideas, this exhibition invites you to immerse yourself in the world of British design and understand its importance to our worldwide reputation for industry.

Innovation in the modern age
The British Design exhibition is subtitled Innovation in the Modern Age, and in essence charts the development of design from Post War up to the present day. Featuring over 300 well known and well loved objects that have become familiar household names, the show highlights some of the most significant designs created by British designers since 1948.

Exhibition highlights
Fans of design work can see examples of key pieces from hugely successful designers included in the V&A exhibition, with a 1961 E type Jaguar, an Alexander McQueen evening gown from the 2009 Horn of Plenty collection, fine art by David Hockney, textiles by Laura Ashley, and the original Brian Duffy photo for a David Bowie album all on show to visitors. A Brownie camera by Kenneth Grange and Moulton bicycle are also sure to be popular with design enthusiasts.

Immersive installations
Comprising three different sections, dealing with tradition, modernity, subversion, innovation and creativity, the V&A has created immersive galleries that encapsulate the period and the style they represent in British Design. Exhibition goers from London and beyond can walk down a street space that looks at the concepts of Swinging London, punk and Cool Britannia; and computer gaming gallery features five video games, specially designed for the show.
