A vast array of art and antiquities, held in trust for the nation. Extensive collections feature anthropological artefacts from all over the world, with items from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, including sculptures from the Parthenon in Athens. As well as the major permanent collections, the museum hosts a programme of world-class exhibitions.
