Cake Britain at Future Gallery takes place at the end of August 2010 and features a collection of entirely edible art. Sponsored by Tate and Lyle and brought into being by the Mad Artists' Tea Party collective, this is your chance to experience the creative and tasty side of cake making and decorating.
Cake Britain at Future Gallery
Open over the bank holiday weekend, the Cake Britain exhibition invites you to experience all the fun of cake art, as a selection of artistic bakers and cake-loving artists go crazy with sugar, cake, and plenty of exciting extras. If you are a fan of cake making and like getting creative with your food, this is certainly the edible exhibition for you.
Get hands on
Bringing together the best of delicious bakery with unusual and imaginative art, this is one way to merge two of creative hobbies. As artists like David A Smith, George Morton-Clarke, Jason Freeney, Peat Wollaeger and Stuart Semple combine their artistic skills with bakers and food artists Prudence Staite, the Jellymongers, Crumbs and Dollies and Lily Vanilli to create an the spectacle that is Cake Britain at Future Gallery, they are also inviting you to have a go too. Special cake making and food artistry workshops are taking place throughout the weekend, allowing you to participate in the wonder that is cake art.
Fairtrade sugarcraft
The theme of the Cake Britain exhibition is Fair, as it reflects Tate and Lyle Fairtrade commitment to sugar. With a variety of different cakes, buns, cupcakes and biscuits on display at Cake Britain at Future Gallery, all of which are free to be eaten by visitors, you can be sure that come close of play on Sunday 29th August, there will be nothing to see but a pile of crumbs.
Cake Britain at Future Gallery takes place from 10am - 6pm Friday 27th August - Sunday 29th August 2010. Entrance is free via a donation to the charities being supported by the event.
