The Can Film Festival hits town in May 2008 and promises to be just as worthy a film fest as its namesake, the Cannes festival.

Encouraging recycling by inviting people to bring an empty can with them as payment for entry the Can Film Festival comes to London with the express purpose of highlighting the difference we can make as individuals to the planet.

London is the very first location on the Can Film Festival venue list which will them move onto Glasgow and Manchester later in the month. As the glamorous and glitzy celebrate their film success in the South of France, the eco minded will be heading to Leicester Square for the launch of the festival at the Prince Charles Cinema.

A screening of Leonardo Di Caprio's new film is the big draw for all film fans at the Can Film Festival, which is entitled The 11th Hour. Looking at the dramatic impact that humans are having on the planet's eco system, the film looks long and hard at the changes that we must make to ensure the safe future of the earth and its occupants.

This special screening of The 11th Hour is free to everyone on a first come, first served basis, but viewers are being asked by the Can film festival organisers to bring along an empty recyclable drinks can as their admission fee. Cans are entirely recyclable and within six to eight weeks of one can being put in a recycling centre, it can be back on the shelf and ready to go again.

By encouraging sensible use of resources and treating eco friendly fillm fans to a night out at the cinema for free, the Can Film Festival hopes to get across its message of reduce, reuse and recycle.
