Canada Day at Trafalgar Square looks set to bring a true taste of the big country to London this week, with Canadian food and drink, sports and live music. Catch some great street hockey games, a band or two, or just chow down on some authentic Canadian grub.

Kicking off the celebration for Canada Day at Trafalgar Square, the night of 30th June 2008 sees Canada Rocks hit town.

A free live concert that takes allows 7,000 ticket holders to be part of the Canada Day party in London will see performances from the likes of Kathleen Edwards who headlines the concert, a chart topping rock band The Trews, Jesse Cook who will wow the crowds with his Nuevo Flamenco guitar playing, and the Celtic roots band The McDades. For Canada Day at Trafalgar Square, 1st July sees visitors able to experience a full on festival of Canadian delights. Street hockey will be in full swing all day long. giving you the chance to see this fast paced and exciting sport up close and personal, and a Chill Out Pavilion on the west side of the square allows you to take a relaxing massage or have a breath of fresh air from the oxygen bar.

A Taste of Ontario gives you the chance to sample the delights of home, or try out some new and unusual Canadian cuisine. Imports direct from Toronto and the surrouning areas will certainly prove that there is more to Canadian cooking than maple syrup. Cordon Blue chef Daniel Verati will be tempting visitors with his delicious cuisine and giving demonstrations of his culinary skill from 12pm onwards.

If all this Canadian business has got you interested in the country itself, there are plenty of impressive locations to visit. Head to the Canadian Pavilion on for more information on the stunning provinces. And you can catch a taste of the Quebec comedy festival as the Fun Pavilion hosts live Canadian comedians throughout the day.

To round off Canada Day at Trafalgar Square, the evening gets pumped up again for another free concert of live music and entertainment. So forget your patriotic leanings, grab a Canadian and make for Trafalgar Square for two days of maple flavoured fun.

Canada Rocks takes place on Monday 30th June from 6pm, and is a free but ticketed event.

Canada Day at Trafalgar Square takes place from 11am to 10:30pm on Tuesday 1st July and is free to attend.
