Combining the passions of music and cars, an unusual car parts orchestra exhibition takes place at The Hospital in Covent Garden. On display for the first time are musical instruments created entirely from the car parts of a Ford Focus that were used in its recent car parts orchestra advert.
Entitled Music on the Move, the car parts orchestra exhibition is giving the public the chance to see these amazing instruments in the flesh and find out how they were created. Put together due to the huge demand by the public to know if the instruments actually worked, the exhibition will satisfy the curiosity of many people who love both music and motors.
Featuring the likes of the Transmission Case Cello-Dulcimer, the Clutch Guitar and the Rear Suspension Spike Fiddle, this show is likely to intrigue and delight anyone who sees it. Having starred in their very own advert for the Ford Focus, the instruments in the car parts orchestra now get their own show with thise unique exhibition. And the instruments are not just there to be looked at. Live performances will take place every day during the car parts orchestra exhibition, ensuring that everyone who attends will be able to see the musical instruments in action.
On show The Hospital in Covent Garden, Music on the Move is shown in support of the Teenager Cancert Trust. Although the exhibition is free to attend, donations are encouraged to raise for the charity, which helps thousands of teenagers every year cope with their debilitating or life threatening illnesses. With 2,000 teenagers diaganosed with cancer in the UK every year, the work the charity does is hugely valuable to not only the teenagers but their families also, and you can help support them by giving a few pounds for the chance to see the car parts orchestra exhibition.
Once the exhibition is finished, several of the instruments from the car parts orchestra are being auctioned off to raise more funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and some have even been signed by celebrities and famous musicians who have played music on them. Mike Rutherford from Genesis and Kenney Jones from The Who are just two musicians to put their names to the unusual instruments.
The car parts orchestra exhibition is on display at The Hospital in Covent Garden from 11am to 6pm, Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th April. Live performances on the instruments will take place at 1:15pm and 5:15pm daily. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed.
