The Carnaby Street exhibition London event kicks off a year of celebrations as Carnaby reaches the grand old age of 50. Featuring some of the most famous faces that have graced the grooviest area of London over the last half century, Carnaby Street 1960 - 2010 brings back to life 50 years of music and fashion.

Carnaby Street exhibition
London has played host to the area of Carnaby in its current incarnation since 1960s and in an exhibition that looks back over the last 50 years, it celebrates each and every moment. Taking you back to the days when the area was simply a greenfield site with nothing more exciting than a well in it, this exhibition invites you to celebrate the people, the fashion, the music and the atmosphere of this unique area of the city.

50 years of Carnaby
The Carnaby Street exhibition is certain to bring back memories and inspire a younger generation with its attitude. At the centre of the Carnaby Street exhibition is a unique 3D timeline that shows the growth of the area and just how much it has changed. Taking in the important characters, events and happenings that occured there, visitors to the exhibition can see the musical and fashionable associations grow over time, taking you through the likes of The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix right up to the present day.

Limited edition book
To accompany the exhibition a limited edition book, also called Carnaby Street 1960 - 2010 features a whole host of photos from the swinging sixties when Carnaby gained its reputation for being one of the most happening areas in London. The book features images by 60s photographer Philip Townsend along with revealing interviews with famous people who have lived and worked in Carnaby over the years, including Pete Townsend of The Who.

50th anniversary events
The Carnaby Street exhibition and book are just some of the key events taking place in Carnaby throughout the year as the area celebrates its 50th birthday. With a live music weekend in June and a fashion show due in September, there will be plenty to celebrate in Carnaby during 2010.

The Carnaby Street exhibition London event takes place from Friday 26th February - 1st April 2010 at 38 Carnaby Street. Entrance is free.
