Carnaval del Pueblo brings the hottest Latin rhythms to London once more as Burgess Park hosts the festival and parade.

Get ready for the biggest Latin festival in Europe as carnival parades, music, dancing and Latin culture celebrate the South American countries here in London. Setting off from City Hall and making its way across the city to Burgess Park, the Carnaval del Pueblo shows Londoners exactly how to have fun.

Now in its tenth year the Carnaval del Pueblo, a festival of dance and music, gets bigger and bigger, with thousands of people flocking to seee the hottest acts in Latin culture. Renowned for their sexy rhythms and saucy salsa dancing, the Latin American fiesta hosts four stages of dance acts from Brazilian samba and Latin hip hop to Colombian salsa and Bolivian folklore.

World famous acts with reputations for being the best in the business will be showing off their dance skills at the Carnaval del Pueblo 2008. La Orquesta de Los Hermanos Rosario from the Dominican Republic performed on the main stage in 2007, while Mini Carnaval de Oruro brought the Bolivian carnival to life with amazing and colourful costumes. And for some seriously South American touches, Mexican Maricela sang traditional songs with live Mariachi bands. 2008 will be no different with world class acts performing on the main stage, and with the Brazilian, the Andean and the Latin hip hop areas showcasing the best in Brazilian samba shows, reggaeton, Colombian salsa, Mexican mariachi and Bolivian folk music.

Not forgetting the kids, the Carnaval del Pueblo is a great day out for families. A special childrens zone will keep the little ones entertained with a range of fun activities from workshops and face painting to bouncy castles and a fun fair.

If you think you've got the moves, then why not enter into the UK Salsa Star competition held on the day of the Carnaval del Pueblo. Organised by Ricardo and Viviana the world champions for Colombian Style Salsa, the salsa competition is open to anyone aged 13 upwards and is free to enter. Participation is one a first come first served basis, and hopeful partners can register on the day.

The Carnaval Del Pueblo procession goes from City Hall near Tower Bridge to Burgess Park, three miles away. It arrives at Burgess Park at around 3pm via Tooley Street, Borough High Street, Elephant and Castle, Walworth Road and Albany Road.
