A busy two-floor spot in the heart of Shoreditch: if dressing up is not your thing and indie your scene, you have found your entertainment.

The Venue
Located right on the Shoreditch club strip (Kingsland Road), Catch is easy to get to and the location offers a lot of opportunity for club hopping if that’s your thing. This rather dark den spreads across two medium-sized floors, with the main bar on the ground level. A row of cozy booths lines the wall opposite the long bar and, at the back, a small DJ booth spins the music depending on the night. Upstairs, a smaller bar, dancefloor, sitting area and stage complete the picture. Some cool lights are the added touch and the sound system is a pretty serious affair on both floors, but don’t get the wrong message: Catch is an unpretentious joint with all the trimmings!

The Atmosphere
The place can be very packed (on both floors) and very loud: expect to find yourself wedged in a corner if live acts are playing, but that is part of the fun! It is popular with cool East Enders and anybody genuinely into the music on the bill. People are friendly and usually into what’s going on that night and the atmosphere as relaxed as it can be when the music is blasting. Not many party outfits can be seen - vintage seems to be popular here together with 3-day-old beards. Very good if you are not in the mood of spending hours getting ready before going out.

The Music
Indie and Electro are the biggest playa in da house, but depending on the night, you can catch a bit of everything: rock, reggae, some hip hop, retro tunes and more. Signed and unsigned bands, also usually producing indie and electro tunes, regularly grace the stage on the first floor: often they are top quality acts on their way to bigger venues and more expensive entrance tickets so they are worth checking out.

The Drink
All the usual suspects with average prices for the area. On the busiest nights, ordering can be difficult despite the long bar on the ground floor: just wait around patiently! The friendly staff will make the hassle less of a bother.

Last Word
Catch is perfect for an unfussy night spent listening to hot live music and dancing with the indie crowd with a drink in between.
