Head to the Josephine Hart Poetry Hour for a special celebrity reading at National Theatre to celebrate the work of W.H. Auden.

Beautiful verse
Giving poetry fans to chance to hear the elegant poems of Anglo-American poet W.H. Auden read aloud, the celebrity poetry reading at National Theatre features respected actors Jeremy Irons, Damian Lewis and Dame Eileen Atkins. Part of an ongoing series of events in the Josephine Hart Poetry Hour, the readings will be preceded by an introduction of the life and work of the poet by novelist and poetry anthologist Josephine Hart.

Famous readers
Drawing on the vast catalogue of published poems that the famous poet wrote over the course of fifty years, the W.H. Auden celebrity reading at National Theatre is bound to be popular with fans of the spoken word. The poems will be read aloud by accomplished performers Jeremy Irons, Dame Eileen Atkins and Damian Lewis, who between them have appeared in everything from The Man in the Iron Mask to Psychoville and The Forsyte Saga.

Poetry hour
The W.H. Auden celebrity reading at National Theatre follows other successful readings in the Josephine Hart Poetry Hour, with previous events taking place at institutions such as The British Library, Harvard, The National Library of Ireland and new York Public Library. Each event features the work of celebrated poets read aloud by respected actors.

The celebrity reading at National Theatre takes place from 6pm - 6.45pm, Monday 17th May 2010 at the Cottesloe Theatre within the National Theatre. Tickets cost £2.50 - £3.50.
