Chanel Mobile Art Exhibition
Prepare for an art and fashion extravaganza as the Chanel Mobile Art exhibition from Karl Lagerfeld’s fashion house comes to London in May. Already a huge hit in New York’s Central Park, the Chanel Mobile Art exhibition will take in seven cities across the world and luckily, one of them will be our very own. It’s sure to arrive with a considerable bang so keep those eyes peeled for the mother of all fashion parties come May.
Zaha Hadid
The Chanel Mobile Art exhibition is a concept from the Chanel bigwigs, who wanted somewhere suitably grand and stylish to celebrate the iconic status of their famous quilted 2.55 bag. Using the bag as inspiration, award-winning architect Zaha Hadid went to work, looking to create an exhibition arena capable of housing not only a host of Chanel goodies, but also twenty works from contemporary artists. And thus, the Chanel Mobile Art exhibition was born.
World tour
The exhibition has already wowed New York’s Central Park thanks to a space-age design made up of seven hundred individual components. These pieces can be separated, ensuring that the mobile art exhibition can be easily transported throughout the world, showcasing the travelling gallery at seven cities worldwide. May 2009 sees the futuristic exhibition arrive in London, bringing a selection of great art and fashion to town.
Contemporary art
The art exhibition within Zaha Hadid’s fascinating creation has been curated by the celebrated arts editor of Beaux Arts Magazine, Fabrice Bousteau. He’s brought a plethora of great contemporary artists to the exhibition, with the like of Daniel Buren, David Levinthal, Fabrice Hyber and Yoko Ono all showcasing their work. Billed as the first ever mobile art gallery, the Chanel Mobile Art gallery looks set to satisfy even Mr Lagerfeld’s impeccable standards, so get your best outfit ready and count down the days until it lands.
