Chap of the Year

Slip into your finest tweed and make sure your moustache is waxed to the max for the inaugural Chap of the Year competition. The Chap Magazine contest aims to separate the true gentleman from the mere pretender and crown one lucky participant as the ultimate all round good chap.

Ten to one
Whittling ten eager contestants down to just one lucky winner, Chap of the Year promises plenty of larks and good old fashioned japes for lovers of vintage style. The online heats have been held since February, with the cream of the crop participating in the live event at The Grand Hall, the ornate 1930s ballroom on Euston Road.

What is a chap?
A well dressed, debonair, chivalrous creature with plenty of charm, a true chap can be of any age, race, class or gender, meaning that some finalists in the Chap of the Year competition could well be ladies rather than gents. A panel of judges will be judging the contestants on their sartorial flair and grooming, while their seduction skills will be assessed by vintage society columnist and retro model Fleur de Guerre.

Cocktails and more
While audience members will no doubt gain a great deal of satisfaction from debating the merits of the debonair displays on stage during Chap of the Year, other entertainment on the night comes in the form of live bands, vintage DJ sets and a matchmaking butler. An array of classic cocktails will also be available from the Bourne and Hollingsworth bar.
