Cheese On Toast In Leicester Square

Feeling hungry? Then head to Central London and gaze at the giant cheese on toast in Leicester Square on Thursday 27th April.

When

27th April 2006

Where

Leicester Square

National Cheese On Toast Day
To celebrate National Cheese On Toast Day (yes, really) Leicester Square will be dubbed Lancashire Square for the day as all manner of cheese dedicated events take place in one of the most famous squares in the capital. The formidable slice of cheese on toast measures a huge 11 square metres and has been made from a staggering 90kg of cheese and 1300 slices of bread. Guaranteed to put your sandwiches to shame, an exotic fire-eater will be grilling the cheese on toast in Leicester Square. Toasting starts at 10.30am.

More Than Cheese On Toast
Whilst the mammoth cheese on toast in Leicester Square will make for a mind boggling centrepiece, it's not the only cheese related event taking place in Leicester Square. Throughout the day, cheese related events will be taking place and raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support in the process.

Charity Cheese
Sample the much-loved, traditional British snack, help to build a towering wall of Lancashire cheese, watch cheese making demonstrations and learn about more about the record breaking £360 slice of cheese on toast from top Lancashire chef Tom Bridge.

Help raise money for charity and marvel at the magnificent slice of cheese on toast in Leicester Square on Thursday 27th April 2006. The cheese events are expected to end at 4pm. The nearest tube station is Leicester Square.
