Celebrate Chinese New Year at National Maritime Museum with a day of music, workshops and special events for all the family. Taking a look at Chinese culture and traditions, this is a great chance to get involved with the celebrations for the brand new Year of the Dragon.

Chinese New Year at National Maritime Museum
Suitable for children and adults alike, the Chinese New Year at National Maritime Museum events aim to entertain and educate in equal measure. Visitors can see the giant dragon installation, take part in a flag making workshop which takes its inspiration from the Imperial Chinese flag on show in the Traders' Gallery and enjoy a film screening of The Chinese Feast, a family comedy which tells the story of a cooking contest.

Special events
Other events taking place during the day include gallery performances, as well as a workshop on teacups and teapots. The event culminates in a spectacular outdoors procession led by the River Cultures arts organisation.

Chinese New Year at National Maritime Museum takes place from 11am - 6pm, Saturday 18th February 2012. Admission is free.
