Much-loved tale
Ian Flemming, creator of the Bond series, wrote the original children’s tale of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but it became really popular when Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes penned a screenplay. It was a huge success, with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang becoming one of the best-loved musicals of all times thanks to an engrossing mix of humour, music, magic and more.

The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tour sees the same story, with the same famous songs take to the New Wimbledon Theatre. It’s an impressive production too, with the flying Chitty Chitty Bang Bang itself costing three quarters of a million pounds; the tour costing three million; and the costumes costing £500,000, perfectly fitting 30 actors, 46 children, and 14 musicians.
