Chocolate Week 2008Celebrating the humble chocolate in all its forms, from bars, boxes, truffles, fountains and cakes to sculptures and drinks, Chocolate Week is all about trying and tasting every conceivable kind of chocolate, finding out how it's made and generally celebrating the delicious, melty sweet stuff that we all crave now and then.
Events for chocoholicsThroughout the week in October, chocolate fans can visit a whole range of venues around London to sample different kinds of cocoa based products, learn more about the different methods of production and find out how to tell the very best quality chocolate from the less impressive ones. Whether you want to try out chocolate cocktails at the Sanderson's Long Bar, take part in a tea and chocolate tasting at Teasmith or meet an actual chocolatier at Fortnum and Mason, there is sure to be something to tempt you during Chocolate Week 2008.
Taking over LondonLoads of different venues are taking part in the Chocolate Week London celebration this year with old favourites like Auberge du Chocolat, Chococo and Melt mixing it up cocoa style with the likes of Harrods, Fortnum and Mason, and sponsors of the event, Divine. Whether you like your chocolate wrapped up in a big box covered with hearts and flowers or pure and simple with 80 percent cocoa, there will be plenty of chocolatey treats in store for all throughout the week.
Chocolate on the menuAlmeida restaurant are getting in on the act for this year's Chocolate Week with a very special seven course tasting menu, available from Monday 13th October. Chocolatier Paul A Smith and head chef Alan Jones are inviting you to indulge yourself with an evening of serious chocolate tasting, as each dish has been combined with a complementary chocolate flavour. With both savoury and sweet courses on the menu, there is also a unique opportunity for chocoholics to see how well their favourite treat goes with cheese! Chocolate Week at AlmeidaChocolate Week at HarrodsHarrods has simply loads of different brands and kinds of chocolate on sale throughout the week, with the likes of luxury brands such as Nehaus, Charbonnel and Walker, Godiva and Valrhona making for very indulgent eating. Tastings will take place on Thursday 16th, and chocolate dipping with Nehaus takes place on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th October. 30 different kinds of chocolate are on sale, and there is even a restaurant dedicated entirely to chocolate, so there really is no excuse not to visit during Chocolate Week 2008.
