The Chorus Festival London event at Southbank Centre in May celebrates the power of the human voice for making music. With plenty of different styles, genres and approaches to singing, the 2012 Chorus Festival is the perfect event for those that love the art of song.
Chorus Festival
London welcomes gospel, indie music, world music, acapella and classical music once again over the course of the Chorus Festival 2012. Over the course of the first May bank holiday weekend, the Southbank Centre will be celebrating the transformative power of singing and the beauty of choral music with a series of free and ticketed events taking place throughout the expansive arts complex.
Singalong events
Bringing together a huge variety of choirs and choral events, the Chorus Festival is a back once again with plenty of different ways to get everyone singing. Having launched the Voicelab choir back in February 2007, the Southbank Centre is encouraging everyone to take part in the choral celebrations with a series of workshops covering everything from singing and mental wellbeing, the voice, ageing and emotions, and singing for the brain.
Music for all
Highlights of this year's Chorus Festival include Singalong Oliver! Which celebrates the Dickens bicentenary with a sing along screening of Carol Reed's classic film, Oliver! Expect pop up singing urchins, prizes for the best fancy dress and plenty more fun when the Royal Festival Hall is turned into a 2,000+ seat cinema.
