21 May 2013 The Londoner's Guide to London
Get in the festive mood at the special Christmas at Covent Garden events, featuring fantastic light displays, an advent calender made entirely of lego, gourmet food markets and much, much more. Christmas lights Sure to be a massive attraction for the crowds in November and December, the festive lights display makes for a visually stunning Christmas at Covent Garden. The lights have once again been designed by the award winning United Visual Artists, and provide a dazzling and contemporary alternative to the traditional light displays taking place elsewhere in London. Covent Garden Christmas Lights Festive decorations In addition to the Christmas lights, visitors to the Covent Garden Piazza can also see the first ever advent calender made completely out of lego. There's also a Christmas tree made from Jack Daniels whisky barrels, a 32 foot topiary reindeer and giant red baubles to be seen in the glass atrium of the Market Building. Barrel Tree at Covent Garden Festive Real Food Market The hugely successful Real Food Market is gearing up for Christmas at Covent Garden by stocking a range of seasonal gourmet fare for food fans. Sip on mulled wine, nibble on a mince pie and snap up some award winning stilton and luxury Christmas cake for your festive larder. The choral groups will be celebrating Christmas at Covent Garden with a variety of traditional festive carols. Meanwhile, kids can pet live reindeer on the Saturdays leading up to Christmas.
