This year Christmas at Southbank Centre is off to a truly festive start with all kinds of fantastic live music, and shows to entertain all. From Shlomo to a tribute to Quentin Crisp, there is something for all tastes and ages to enjoy.

Christmas unwrapped
Featuring the brand new show from the creators of Stomp, the Grammy nominated cult trio The Tiger Lillies and the weird and wonderful Australian comedian Tim Minchin, Christmas at Southbank Centre is truly something to get excited about this year.

Christmas music at Southbank Centre
Whether you are a fan of Shlomo's unusual beatboxing style or want to get groovy with the Puppini Sisters, music is all the rage over the festive period. Alongside the star piece of the season, the Lost and Found Orchestra, you can also hear music from the likes of the Tiger Lillies and celebrate a Thompson Family Christmas musical session live at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Festive laughs
Comedy is set to be another big hit over Christmas at Southbank Centre as a whole host of comedians do their very best to warm your cockles during the coldest season. Pappy's Fun Club make a welcome return with their Christmas Funergy special, and mind reader Chris Cox will be delving into the unknown to change the way you think. The top spot over Yuletide however is reserved for comedy psychopath Jerry Sadowitz who brings his own offensive and shockingly hilarious routine to the Southbank Centre, straight from the Edinburgh Festival.

Christmas markets
For those that want to get all German for Christmas, what better opportunity for schnitzel and shopping is there than the Cologne Christmas Market? Crammed with traditional Christmas goodies to eat and give as gifts, there is even a chance for kids to spend some quality time with Santa in his secret village. Another market comes for Christmas at Southbank Centre later on in December bringing with it the the Slow Food ethic. Buy tasty Christmas fare and enjoy a relaxed festive atmosphere outside the Royal Festival Hall.

Christmas at Southbank Centre takes place at Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Purcell Room and on Queens Walk Saturday 13th December 2008 - Sunday 11th January 2009.
