Christmas unwrapped
Featuring concerts by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the London Philharmonic Choir as well as a festival full of gourmet chocolate and sweet gifts, Christmas at Southbank Centre is truly something to get excited about this year.

Christmas music at Southbank Centre
Whether you are a fan of classical music or contemporary jazz, music is all the rage over the festive period. Head to the Early Christmas Stocking concert to hear some jazz classics from Ian Shaw and Claire Martin, or celebrate the season with a rendition of Handel's Messiah, sung by candlelight by the London Philharmonic Choir. There's also classical music from the Britten Sinfonia, as well as a lively showcase of Ennio Morricone music from the Spaghetti Western Orchestra.

Festive family fun
Families will find plenty to keep everyone happy over Christmas at Southbank Centre as a whole host of live acts do their very best to warm your cockles during the coldest season. Very young children can get in the festive spirit with the enchanting White show, while kids aged eight and over can join Slava and his troupe of clowns for an interactive snow show.

Christmas markets
For those that want to get all German for Christmas, what better opportunity for schnitzel and shopping is there than the traditional German Christmas market along the South Bank? The Real Food market also makes a welcome return for Christmas at Southbank Centre in December, bringing with it the local, seasonal food ethic. Buy tasty Christmas fare and enjoy a relaxed festive atmosphere on the Southbank Centre Square, or head to the Chocolate Festival for more seasonal sweet treats.

For those looking for a slightly leftfield approach to the holiday season, there's always the chance to join John Waters for his acclaimed one man show, or see Aurelia Thierree in Murmurs, a surreal show featuring dance, circus and dance. And for an exotic take on Christmas, there's Bollywood dancing and music from Indian-Danish show, The Bollywood Trip.
