Get the festive season off to a flying start at the Christmas Carol Christmas lights switch on, which sees central London illuminated in one coordinated celebration.

World premiere
The Christmas lights of Oxford Street and Regent Street are being switched on together for the first time on Tuesday 3rd November 2009, in a massive celebration of the world premiere of the new Disney film based on the famous Charles Dickens novel, A Christmas Carol. With Jim Carrey at Oxford Street, Colin Firth and Robin Wright Penn at Regent Street, and Bob Hoskins at St Pauls Cathedral, you have a good chance of spotting a bonafide star during the Christmas Carol Christmas lights switch on. Live music and entertainment will be taking place on the streets of central London throughout the evening to keep the crowds entertained.

World record attempt
As well at the Christmas Carol Christmas lights switching on ceremony, there's also a world record attempt for the greatest number of people singing a Christmas carol together. Step back into the Victorian world of Dickensian London and join together for a mass carol singalong for the chance to make your way into the Guinness World Book of Records.
