Whats On
London Christmas lights really light up the capital's streets during the bleak winter months. Christmas in London just wouldn’t be Christmas without the stunning array of decorative lights that adorn the streets throughout the festive season, bringing light and colour to London throughout the winter.

Switched on for 2008
The switching on of Christmas lights in the West End have become landmark occasions in London each year, drawing crowds in their thousands on separate nights in the approach to Christmas. This year the Regent Street, Oxford Street and Bond Street Christmas lights will be lit in three separate, free events, guaranteeing festive fun for visitors to the capital’s premier shopping district.

Light installation at Covent Garden
With the most unusual Christmas lights in London being set up in Covent Garden for 2008, the Piazza will be looking deliciously festive. It will be transformed by three large interactive chandeliers, incorporating hundreds of energy efficient full colour bulbs that will be suspended over the spaces in the halls and the Covent Garden market building. Taking place from Monday 17th November 2008 onwards, these Christmas lights looks set to be a seriously festive affair.

Brighten up your Christmas shopping
Make an occasion out of your Christmas shopping and visit the West End on winter evenings to shop under the glow of festive lights. Christmas lights will be lit throughout the run up to Christmas on Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street, adding seasonal flavour to the world-famous London shopping district. The lights will stay up into the New Year, so you can make the most of the January sales whilst still enjoying festive decorations.

Trafalgar Square
The annual Trafalgar Square Christmas tree lighting ceremony takes place on Thursday 4th December in which a tree given by the people of Norway will be lit in an enchanting, historic ceremony. Trafalgar Square will be a haven of Christmas spirit throughout the season with lights, decoration and free carol singing, taking place throughout December 2008.
